TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) Disorders
TMJ disorders can often show up as jaw clicking, popping, pain, or locking and is often triggered by stress, grinding, or injury to the jaw. Sometimes the dysfunction is not only in the jaw, but in the neck and surrounding areas. Treatment may include gentle manual therapy to the jaw and neck, exercises to strengthen and relax the muscles involved in chewing and speaking, and techniques to improve posture that can reduce strain on the joint.
